Next Chapter

July 23rd, 2009

I was standing in the driveway and a shadow flys over my head and I duck and turn to see this huge butterfly. He was so big he demanded a presence. I assume he was in migration and flew over the River mountains from Lake Mead. It was Novenber. He lingered in the yard for several minutes flying in a pattern feeding on a couple small new hatches. Then he was gone.

A few days later another one arrived and I stood watching for a full 20 minutes while he flew his pattern around the yard and fed on several new little hatches, and guess his wing span around 4 inches.

A big, yet small butterfly making his way in the world, doing just fine. Eating well on a warm desert day.

I’m not sure what kind he was. It was like my index finger had huge wings and was flying in a pattern, gorging on insects.

I’ve circled him in this pic.

Somehow I just knew… a new chapter was beginning. I was going on an adventure.

It has been 7 months since my last post. I’ve traveled and met some of the best people on earth. We live in a beautiful country with beautiful people.

I am home.

Christmas Cactus

January 6th, 2009

I rescued 3 cactus’s in November, sat them outside in the rain for a couple of days, then watched them start to thrive. On Christmas Day the white blossom arrived. You can’t plan gifts like this, such an awesome fresh and beautiful bloom arriving on Christmas morning.cbloom
I woke up to this pink blossom this morning and wanted to share such beauty.

I Voted!

November 4th, 2008

I love small town. Living in Henderson Nevada has some awesome perks.

Me ‘n Dave walked the 6 blocks to Mahlon Junior High School and got right in. No wait at all.

Now we are watching the voting results… with eager anticipation.

God Bless AMERICA!

Smelling the Roses

October 28th, 2008

I have a beautiful rose garden and stop to smell the roses several times a day…  trying to make up for those confused folks to busy to actually see a rose or comprehend the beauty of smelling one.

I always look first, as lots of little creatures make the garden their habitat.

This little albino spider caught my attention and was patient enough for me to grab the camera and photo him. He is a perfect creamy white and absolutey gorgeous.
